A Message from the Coordinator

Thank you to everyone who has participated in our alumni recruitment activities over the past year. As the Humboldt State University applicant pool grows, your assistance in representing HSU in your community becomes all the more important. Alumni Ambassadors will have total flexibility about their level of involvement in the program by choosing activities that fit their interest and time constraints.

To help you become prepared as an Alumni Ambassador, I have put together a Training Manual that should answer many of your questions. Even if you have recently graduated, you may feel that you are unprepared to answer specific questions about HSU. This is NOT a problem and please don’t let it interfere with your willingness to volunteer as an Alumni Ambassador.

Here is a list of the activities that we are focusing on this year:

  • Attend a college fair in your area
  • Attend a reception in your area
  • Refer a Student to HSU
  • Communicate with our prospective (not yet applied) and admitted students by phone, letter & email
  • Participate in our monthly Alumni Online Chats
  • Refer other Alumni of HSU to join the Alumni Ambassador Program

Responsibilities will include:

  • Stay informed. Refer to the Humboldt web site for much of the information you’ll need
  • Communicate with the coordinator what activities you are willing to be responsible for and commit to
  • Create opportunities to tell your story about HSU in your professional & social communities

Enjoy your experience as an Alumni Ambassador. Remember, if you can't attend a specific activity or event you can always share the "Humboldt Spirit" wherever you meet with prospective applicants.
