Clear your Cookies, History and Browser Cache*

Web browsers temporarily store images and text from Web pages on your hard drive in a storage area called a cache, history or cookies. If you experience any problems displaying Web pages, you may need to clear these areas. Depending on the number of files, this operation may take a few minutes.

Microsoft® Internet Explorer
Firefox
Netscape
Safari


To clear the Microsoft® Internet Explorer cookies, cache, history:

  1. Click the Start button, click Settings, then click Control Panel.
  2. Click the Tools menu, then double-click Internet Options.
  3. On the General tab, click the DeleteCookies... button.
  4. Click the OK button.
  5. Click the Delete Files... button.
  6. Click the Delete All Offline Content box to place a check mark in it.
  7. Click the OK button.
  8. Click Clear History button, “Are you sure you want …..” then click Yes button.
  9. Click OK button.

To clear the Firefox cookies and cache:

  1. Click the Start button, select Programsor All Programs, select Mozilla Firefox, then click the Mozilla Firefox icon.
  2. In the toolbar, click the Tools menu, then click Clear Private Data....
  3. Click the boxes to the left of Cache and Cookies to place a check mark in them, ensure the other boxes do not have check marks in them, then click the Clear Private Data Now button.
  4. Click the File menu, then click Exit.


To clear the Netscape® cookies and cache:

  1. Open Netscape.
  2. Click the Tools menu, then click Options....
  3. Click the Privacy icon.
  4. Click the Cookies tab, then click the Clear Cookies Now button.
  5. Click the Cache tab, then click the Clear Cache Nowbutton.
  6. Click the OK button.
  7. Click the File menu, then click Exit.

To clear the Safari cookies and cache:

  1. Click the Go menu, select Applications,, and then double-click the Safari icon.
  2. In the toolbar, click the Safari menu, then click Preferences....
  3. In the Security tab, click the Show Cookies button.
  4. In the list view of cookies, either
    1. Command-click individual cookies you wish to delete, then click the Remove button, or,
    2. Click the Remove All button.
  5. Click the Done button.
  6. In the toolbar, click the Safari menu, then click Empty Cache ....
  7. In the confirmation dialog box, click the Empty button.
  8. Click the Safari menu, then click Quit Safari.
