Course Information—Psychology 485: Senior Seminar
This section of Psychology 485 is a web-based course. That is, we will not be meeting in a
classroom; all class interaction and testing will be done using computers
and the internet. We will use Moodle, a web system for handling homework, tests, and class
discussion (via a virtual “bulletin board”). In place of face-to-face class interaction,
you will be expected to use a computer to login to Moodle frequently during the week to examine
“lecture notes,” submit assignments, contribute to class discussion, and take tests.
Positive features of this mode of instruction:
-
More flexibility for your schedule (no time conflict with other courses).
-
More class interaction (all can contribute to class “discussion” with more time to develop input).
-
Better use of campus facilities (less demand for classroom space).
What you need:
-
Basic computer skills (word processing, e-mail, web navigation). Don't take this class if you "aren't good
with computers."
-
Computer access (a computer connected to the internet, preferably your own—however, it is possible
to complete the coursework using campus computer labs)
-
Conscientious working style. If you tend to put things off to the last minute and are disorganized in
your academic work, you are better off with the structure of a conventional class. However
if you like to work independently and are a self-motivated student, then this might be
an excellent course for you.
-
Required! Take this Test of Web-Course Aptitude before committing to this course.
