Strawbale
Strawbale houses are easier and cheaper to build than other homes. The ultra-insulating bales keep the house cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They are far more resistant to fire and pests than wood-framed houses. To build a strawbale house, a wooden post and beam framework is erected. The walls are then formed with tightly bound bales of straw, pinned together with rebar. Finished walls are covered with stucco on the outside and plaster on the inside. With a good roof and a foundation that will never wick up water from the ground, strawbale houses will last indefinitely.
