In spring semester 2005 we did an anonymous survey of the senior Economics majors in our capstone course. We asked them what they liked the most about Economics at HSU. Here is what these students said said:

·        The elective courses

·        Instructors who really enjoy the subject.

·        It’s focus on sustainability & its individual instruction (small classes).
The economics teachers at H.S.U. are also an asset to the program.

·        I think the writing, presenting, and research aspects most prepares students for reality beyond a B.A., be it in the work place or in grad school.

·        Instructors are very approachable & helpful. Staff is extremely knowledgeable in economics subject matters. Learned valuable real world applications as well as economic theories. Environmental econ is an awesome resource @ HSU as well as sustainability economics.

·        Small class sizes!

·        Sustainable Development Theory should be taught in all schools.

·        The interdisciplinary nature of the program, the pathway options.

·        Well rounded, nice choice of elective courses, lots of writing and essay work.

·        The wide range of options.

·        1. Individual attention from faculty
2. Focus on group work and communication
3. Challenging mathematic requirements

·        The best aspect is the closely formed relationships with faculty. Due to the small class sizes and great staff, Faculty have the opportunity to spend more time per student. Also the Faculty is overwhelmingly helpful in trying to help any interested student find a job. I want to thank all of them for sharing their knowledge and their personal perspectives with us, the students.
