Mary Jo Sweeters is temporarily working in the Deans office. Julie Tucker has taken over departmental administrative responsibilities.
Fall 2007- Spring 2008
The program completed another successful academic year, sending more than 25 more Environmental Resources Engineers into the workforce. Highlights from this year include:
- The Renewable Energy Student Union raised over $100,000 in grants this year to fund renewable energy projects on and off the HSU campus. In addition, RESU members won national recognition at EPA’s P3 (People, Prosperity and the Planet) Sustainability Design Competition
- Engineers Without Borders - HSU received a $1,000 for the 2008 Domestic Humanitarian award from EWB - USA
- Six Environmental Resources Engineering students competed on two teams in an international math modeling competition with over 1160 other teams from over 13 countries. The outstanding performance of both teams continues the tradition of a strong showing by Environmental Resources Engineering students in this annual contest.
- The Schatz Energy Research Center is building a new $3 Million laboratory and office facility on the HSU campus. The new facility will have expanded laboratory, shop, and office area and will allow SERC to include more students in activities of the Center.
- Assistant Professor Arne Jacobson won HSU’s “Making A Difference Award” in February of 2008.
Fall 2008
- Margaret Lang will be the department Chair starting August 15th, 2008.
- Robert Willis will be on sabbatical.
