The Humboldt Film Fest is the oldest student-run film festival in the world, showcasing innovative cinema since 1967, the Summer of Love. We celebrate films that express fresh ideas and test cinematic boundaries. Films that show heart and purpose hold a greater value to this festival than attributes related to production value. The Humboldt Film Fest exists so that excellent independent films are seen and filmmakers are supported in their art, so as to perpetuate the creation of more exceptional films.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Narrative, Experimental, Documentary, Animation, and everything inbetween.
  • Works must be under 30 minutes and must have been created within the last 5 years.

Preview Formats: DVD (all regions accepted), VHS (NTSC, PAL, SECAM, PAL-M and PAL-N). A self-addressed stamped envelope should be included for the return of the VHS tape/ DVD. If SASE is not included, these will be kept for the Festival archives, to be used for educational purposes on the campus of Humboldt State University and to be used for the promotional purposes of the Festival. Prescreening VHS tapes / DVD's are kept for award winning films to add to our archives.
