The purpose of the program is to increase the number of individuals who show potential as doctoral students and who may be interested in potentially applying and competing for future CSU instructional faculty positions. Applicants in all fields where CSU campuses employ faculty are eligible for admission to the program regardless of gender or ethnicity. The program gives primary consideration to candidates in fields where CSU campuses anticipate the greatest difficulty in filling potential future instructional faculty positions.

The California Pre-Doctoral Program is designed to increase the diversity of the pool from which the CSU draws its faculty. It does so by supporting the doctoral aspirations of CSU students who have experienced economic and educational disadvantages. Applicants must be upper-division or master's degree students who are enrolled at a CSU institution as of Spring 2006 and also be enrolled for at least one semester AY 2006-2007.

System wide Competition will showcase excellent research conducted by CSU undergraduate and graduate students in the full range of academic programs offered by the CSU. This year the competition will be held at California State University Channel Islands.

Environmental Fellowship Program
Fellowships are offered only to students who are enrolled in graduate programs in California with an academic focus in an environmental field. Candidates are chosen not only for their excellence in academic & scientific work, but also on their true dedication to aggressively pursue practical solutions to environmental problems. The Fellowships are not restricted to a specific field, but a good foundation in basic sciences is considered a plus. Past Fellows have studied in a range of fields including natural resources management, public policy, environmental law, architecture and journalism as well as in more traditional areas of chemistry, biology and engineering.

Applicants must, be sophomores or juniors, pursuing a bachelor's or associate's degree, have a grade-point average of at lease a "B", be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or permanent resident, be committed to a career related to the environment, OR committed to a career in tribal public policy or Native American health care (only Native Americans and Alaska Natives are eligible to apply in tribal public policy or Native American health care).
