Logging In To WebReg (Web Registration)

For access to registration, financial aid information, student records, setting your HSU email password, setting your preferred email account, opt-in to emergency text messaging, etc., you need to log in to WebReg.

Step 1:

Go to the main HSU web page (www.humboldt.edu) and select WebReg from the QuickLinks drop-down box in the upper right corner or go to the following link:

Step 2:

Enter your HSU ID number or your Social Security number (without dashes) in the “User ID” field.  Enter your six digit PIN (six numbers) in the “PIN” field.  Click “Login”.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is My User ID?

Your User ID or HSU ID is the nine digit number assigned to you when you are  accepted to or hired by HSU.  For security purposes, this number is used in place of your Social Security number and appears on your ID card.  If you do not know your HSU ID number, you may use your Social Security number.  When you enter either your HSU ID or your Social Security number, do not use dashes.

 

What Is My PIN?

Your PIN is a six digit number used to log in to WebReg.  If this is the first time you are logging in to WebReg, your default PIN is generally your two digit birth month and four digit birth year (mmyyyy).  For example, if you were born in March of 1989 your default PIN would be 031989.  When you login for the first time, you will be required to set a new six digit pin.

 

What To Do If You Do Not Know Your PIN

If you do not remember your PIN, enter your HSU ID number in the “User ID” field, leave the PIN field blank then click on the “Forgot PIN” button.  You will be asked your security question, if you have previously set one up.  Enter the answer to your security question then click “Submit”.  Once you have answered correctly, you will be allowed to set a new PIN.  Please keep in mind your security question answer is case sensitive.

If you do not know the answer to your security question or your default PIN is not working, you can click “Generate New PIN” to have a new PIN e-mailed to your Preferred E-mail Address or you can contact the Help Desk at 826-HELP (826-4357) for assistance.

 

Expired PIN

You may be asked to reset your PIN because it has expired.  If so, you will be prompted to enter your old PIN in the first field, then enter your new PIN twice.  Your new PIN must be different than your old PIN and it must be six numbers.

 

Security Question for Forgotton PIN

If this is your first visit to WebReg, you will be asked to create a security question and answer in case you forget your PIN in the future.  Please be sure that the security question/answer you create is simple enough that you would know the answer today or five years from now but is complex enough that it wouldn’t easily be guessed by someone else.   Please keep in mind that your answer is case sensitive.

If you do not know the answer to your security question or your default PIN is not working, you can click “Generate New PIN” to have a new PIN e-mailed to your Preferred E-mail Address or you can contact the Help Desk at 826-HELP (826-4357) for assistance.

 

Glossary of Terms

HSU User Name – Your HSU User Name is your initials plus a number and is used to log in to your HSU email, Academic Computing lab computers, Moodle, Inter-Library Loan, and HSU Wireless.  Your HSU User Name is paired with your HSU User Name Password.

HSU User Name Password – A password that must be manually set by you in WebReg by going to Electronic Services then Verify/Change HSU User Name Password.  This password goes with your HSU User Name and is used to access the applications and systems listed above. 

Your password must be at least eight characters long but not more than 30 characters long with at least one number, one letter and one supported special character (#%*+,-. /:=?\^) but cannot contain your first or last name or your HSU User Name.  Your HSU User Name Password is different than your PIN.  Your HSU User Name Password is paired with your HSU User Name.

User (HSU) ID – Your User ID is the nine digit number assigned to you on acceptance to HSU.  For security purposes, this number is used in place of your Social Security number and will generally begin with the number nine.  If you do not know your HSU ID number, you can use your Social Security number.  When you enter either your User ID or your Social Security number, do not use dashes.  Your User ID is paired with your PIN.

PIN (Personal Identification Number) - A six digit number used to log in to WebReg.  If this is the first time you are logging in to WebReg, your default PIN is generally your two digit birth month and four digit birth year.  For example, if you were born in March of 1989 your default PIN would be 031989.  Your PIN is different than your HSU User Name Password.  Your PIN is paired with your User ID.

Preferred Email Address - An email address where all of HSU email correspondence will be sent (including billing, class list info, grades, official correspondence, Moodle, and course information, etc). A preferred email address can be any valid email account you choose including your HSU address (example: abc123@humboldt.edu) or a non-HSU address such as a yahoo.com account. By default, your preferred e-mail address is your HSU email address.

Webmail – Online access to your HSU email account.  You can access Webmail in your internet browser by going to http://webmail.humboldt.edu.

WebReg (Web Registration) – The online portal for HSU students, staff and faculty to access student services (registration, grades, etc.), financial aid information, personal information (update address, phone, change PIN, change security question, etc.) and electronic services (set preferred email address, set HSU User Name Password, etc.).
