HSU Server Accounts
All students, faculty and staff are provided an account on the local campus web server for the entire time they are associated with HSU. The server name is sorrel. HSU Web Policy, products, software and other web server account information can be found at Central Systems & Account Information.
Set or Change your HSU User Name and Password - A direct link to WebReg. Log in using your 9-digit HSU ID and PIN. If this is the first time you've logged in, your PIN is your Birth Month and Year (MMYYYY).

Getting Started on the HSU Web Server
Your sorrel account on HSUs web server can be used to develop your own personal web site. It is your responsibility to learn how to design and maintain your site.

Web Development
Web page development requires both technical and design skills. Style guides are useful in providing design, layout, basic html instructions and guidelines. Web authoring programs offer sophisticated visual-design tools. Multimedia editing tools allow you to customize images, graphics, audio, and video files for use in your web pages.

Lynx - Text-based internet access is available on redwood and sorrel using lynx. Type lynx at the system prompt.
Campus Web Development Services
HSU provides faculty and students with various web development support and services. Faculty can consult with the Courseware Development Center for assistance for development of courseware and technology mediated instruction. The Digital Literacy Closet provides a multimedia facility for both student and faculty projects. In addition to technical support and instruction, the Help Desk Multimedia Project Center provides students with a facility and on-site support for multimedia projects and course presentations.
Courseware Development Center - Provides faculty support for the development and deployment of technology mediated instruction and acts as a liaison on projects with the Faculty Development Coordinator, the Library, Extended Education, and other units of the University to ensure that faculty support for courseware development is seamless. Faculty may consult with CDC staff to discuss projects, receive software training, help converting traditional paper-based course content to web-based delivery, and create complete interactive multimedia CD-ROMs for classroom material.
The Digital Literacy Closet - Provides students and faculty with a facility for web page authoring, audio CD burning, and PowerPoint presentations. The facility is open about twenty hours a week and it is advised that you schedule time in advance.
Help Desk Multimedia Project Center - Provides students a facility with on-site support services for multimedia projects and course presentations. The facility houses iMac workstations, scanners, digital camera, CD burner, authoring tools and OCR software. Students can schedule time in the center or simply drop by and see what is available in Library 120B.
