Welcome to Liberal Studies Elementary EducationA major in Liberal Studies Elementary Education (LSEE) is an excellent way for future elementary school teachers to gain an understanding of the subject matter taught in California schools. A Liberal Studies/Elementary Education (LSEE) degree from Humboldt State University prepares graduates to enter a fifth-year teaching credential program to earn a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential. The Liberal Studies Elementary Education (LSEE) program is unique from other majors because LSEE students take classes across the Humboldt State University campus with faculty who specialize in the subjects elementary school teachers are required to teach. The LSEE course requirements give students a solid background in literature and language studies, history and social sciences, humanities, human development, physical education, mathematics, science and visual and performing arts. As part of the degree requirements, LSEE majors are able to select a depth of study in one of these subject areas and participate in extensive fieldwork opportunities. Those people entering Humboldt State University (HSU) as freshman may consider the Integrated option of the LSEE program that allows motivated students to attain a Bachelor's of Arts degree and a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential in four years and one summer. Come and join the hundreds of LSEE majors that are receiving an outstanding education by taking courses designed to enhance ones appreciation for diversity, ability to integrate knowledge and learning across disciplines, and to develop the skills needed to effectively communicate in today's professional world.
