During the first portion of the course we will review the concepts of
statistics that were previouly presented in the Introduction to
Statistics and Intermediate Statitics. Throughout the course we will
analyze a data set based on responses to a questionaire collected
from all over the USA. We will use the SPSS computer based
statistical routines to analyze the data set throughout the course.
There will be weekly homework projects and an end of the semester
individual project in which each student individually analyzes the
data set and writes up the results as one would for a journal.
The format of this report will be demonstrated in class.
Jan 19 - Feb 18 Review of the statistical concepts from
previous courses and practice them
by analysing the data set and weekly
exercises.
Feb 23 - Mar 4 Factor Analysis
Mar 9 - Apr 1 Multiple Regression
Apr 6 - Apr 8 Discriminate Analysis
Apr 13 - Apr 29 Multiple Analysis of Variance and
Covariance
May 4 - May 6 Guidance in writing the final project
There will be up to 14 weekly exercises to be turned-in on
the Monday following the assignment. Each will be worth 10
points and only the 10 exercises with the highest score will
be counted.
The final project will be worth 200 points and will be due
on tuesday, May 11, 1999 by 5 pm.
Letter grades will be calculated on a curve based on this
semester's class only.
