Redwoods National Park to Six Rivers National Forest Trail Corridor (Trail
#58) Horse/hike
This would provide a trail link from the mouth of Redwood Creek in Redwood
National Park (Ref. 3.2.1)
to the trails network of the North Trinity Mountain area in Six Rivers
National Forest (Ref. 3.6.2.1).
Trail Corridor would extend from the proposed Redwood Creek Levee Trail
to the Redwood Creek Trail to the eastern park boundary and continue along
the general route of Bald Hills Road to French Camp - Pine Creek Roads
within the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation. The corridor would then follow
the general route of Lookout Road to North Trinity Mountain trailhead.
From this area, trail access is available to various Klamath mountains
wilderness areas as well as the state proposed Trinity Mountain Hiking-Equestrian
Corridor (Ref. 3.6.2.2).
King Range to Trinity Mtn. Trail Corridor (Trail #59) Horse/hike
This trail would provide a trail link between the trail networks of
both areas. The trail corridor would extend from Humboldt Redwoods state
Park and follow the general route of the Mattole Honeydew Road. Near Honeydew,
continue as determined feasible into the King Range to some point along
the King Crest Trail. From this point, follow the King Crest Trail to
the proposed Rattlesnake Ridge Trail which leads to Big Flat creek and
the coastal trail. This trail would provide a coastal access route from
the Trinity Mountain Trail Corridor (Ref. 3.5.2.2)
which otherwise follows an inland route south from Humboldt Redwoods State
Park into Mendocino County.
