Section Four: Implementation

4.3 - Support Facilities

In some instances, it may be appropraite to provide rest and/or parking facilities at trail staging areas and other locations where people congregate. Rest areas may include restrooms, drinking water, public telephone, horse hitching rails, benches, picnic tables, air for bicycle tires or other necessary features. Features for auto parking and bicycle parking may also be needed where existing public parking is not available. Bicycle parking should include theft prevention devices or completely enclosed bicycle shelters. Locations for bicycle parking facilities may include civic and public buildings, transit terminals, business districts, shopping centers, schools, parks and playgrounds, and other community activity centers.
