ACADEMIC CONFERENCES allow you the opportunity
to extend the work you do in class and present it to other students
and professors from other universities. Since only outstanding
research is selected for the conferences, presenting at the conferences
demonstrates your work is significantly better than that done
by most undergraduate students.
Each year there are two conferences HSU students might attend.
CSU-Fresno
is the host for a conference emphasizing undergraduate social
scientific research in the discipline and CSU-Hayward is the host for a conference
emphasizing rhetorical criticism. In addition, when the National
Communication Association or the regional Western Speech Communication
Association conventions are nearby you could attend them. There
are also student research conferences sponsored by the California
State University system and by colleges and universities in other
states.
If you're interested in attending any of the conferences discuss
the possibility with a faculty member willing to supervise your
research.
