NOTE: Due to budget and staffing considerations the Department of Communication changed the unit value of some classes that fulfill major requirements from four units to three units in the spring of 2002. The classes affected were:

COMM 108 Oral Interpretation
COMM 213 Interpersonal Communication
COMM 214 Persuasive Speaking
COMM 300 American Public Discourse
COMM 309b Gender and Communication
COMM 400 Communication and Human Integration

It will take a while before the changes can be reflected in the HSU catalog and the requirements for the Communication major.

In the meantime, you still need to attain the same total number of units in the major, and are allowed to choose electives to make up for the reduction in units.

In order to reduce confusion we have updated the major requirements and Program Approval Sheets. Although they are not exactly the same as what is in the HSU catalog they do take into account the changes created by unit changes.
