James McHugh (light design)
James P. McHugh, Full Professor, is a member of the design and technology faculty whose area of expertise is Lighting Design. In addition to lighting (shadow design) he teaches classes in Visual Aesthetics, Production Management, Stage Management, Color Theory, Image and Imagination and Introduction to Performance Design.
He is a member of United Scenic Artists of America, the immediate past chair of the Illuminating Engineering Society's Theatre Film and TV Lighting Commission and a member of Entertainment Services and Technical Association's Photometric Reporting group. He was a principle at the theatrical design and construction firm, MRA in NYC, NY before his teaching career. He spends most of his summers designing lighting for regional repertory companies.
On occasion he can be found on stage in performance such as Equus, Three Viewings, Secret Garden and Camelot
