- Dr. Zulema Moret was born in Buenos Aires, where she obtained her Master's Degree at the University of Buenos Aires in 1975. She was member of a
research group on Applied Linguistics at the University of Buenos Aires (1975-1976), with emphasis to the link between the Linguistics and the Social
Studies. Dr. Moret has lived in Venezuela and in Germany, and during the last 15 years, in Barcelona, Spain.
- She has written many books for children, among which are included El barrilete viajero (1987), Historia para gatos [4 books] (1993),
Cuentos con deseos (1993), El mono Serafín (1995), Bubú y Gusy en la luna (1995), and El juego laberinto de las palabras (1987).
Many of her short stories for children were published in the Venezuelan newspaper, "El Carabobeño", Valencia, Venezuela, from (1984 to 1986.
- More than 13 titles of the Magazine "Jugar, crear, aprender" were published by the Biblioteca de Trabajo Venezolano, Cooperativa Laboratorio Educativo
(Venezuela, 1982-1986) and her research on Language and Creativity: Juego, creatividad y lenguaje: una metodología para la etapa inicial was
published in 1985 by PAC in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
- Emphasizing the relationship between Creativity, Expressive Languages and Interdisciplinarity she has published more
than twenty articles in national and international magazines: Lectura y Vida, Letragorda, Texturas,
Papeles de Literatura Infantil, Tupí, Parastú, Proyecciones de la Lectura, Cuadernos de Pedagogía, etc.
- In 1986 she founded the Creative Writing School "Taller de Escritura de Barcelona, El Placer de Escribir" in Barcelona and as editor has published more than 15 books, poetry and short stories anthologies of new writers and also many ArtBooks.
- As a poet she has published in Alabastro, Sírvase usted mismo, Texturas, Vox, Promethée, and she co-published in women
anthologies of new poets: Circunstancias, Entre paréntesis, Hueco de letra, with the Abecedaria
Press, Barcelona (1993-1996).
Cuaderno de viaje solitario (Poetry) appeared in Venezuela in 1985 and Cazadora de sueños (Poetry) will be presented in Barcelona. She has also written and published short stories, some of them in magazines.
- She defended her Phd/Thesis in the Basque Country University (Universidad del País Vasco, España) on: "La novela de crecimiento femenina en la literatura latinoamericana".
- She has worked on Gender Issues in America Latina, Critical Approaches in Poetry and the link between Creativity and
Writing and her essays have appeared in different reviews, such as Alba de America , Topías, Texturas,
INTI, Texto crítico, Confluencia, Quimera, Studi Spanici and Studies in Twentieth Century Literature.
- Some essays were also published in the following books: Escribir en femenino: Poéticas y Políticas (Barcelona:
Icaria, 2000), Feminismo, Cuerpo y Escritura (Canarias: La Página, 2000) and Escritura y desafío: Narradoras venezolanas del siglo XX
(Caracas, Edit. Monte Avila, 1985), Escritura creativa I (Vitoria: Arteragin, 1997) and Escritura Creativa II (Vitoria: Arteragin, 1999).
- She has taught in workshops, seminars and has attended conferences in Venezuela, Colombia, France, Germany, Portugal, Argentine, Mexico and United States and she has collaborated in different International Programs all along different european Institutions.
- She was an International Visiting Professor at Reed College (Oregon) and will be teaching at Albion College (Michigan) beginning Fall term, 2001. At Humboldt State University Dr. Moret was invited to teach four courses:
- SPAN 435: Linguistics applied to Spanish
- SPAN 480: Composition (Spanish V)
- SPAN 340: Introduction to Hispanic Literature
- SPAN 480: Gender Issues in America Latina Literature and Culture
