Trip Details

While in the ancient capitals of Beijing, Xian and Lhasa, we will witness the impact of China's rapid economic development on its historical and cultural legacy. In particular, the extent and impact of tourism on China's traditional landscape will be noted. Working individually and in groups, students will develop skills in report writing, cartography and photography as well as technical expertise in G.P.S. systems, digital photography and webpage management.

Our journey will be demanding. Students are expected to be aware that the reality of China is challenging and may at times be at variance with individual standards of time, space, convenience, hygiene and sanitation; accommodations in China range from rural simplicity to urban sophistication. An adventurous spirit and a flexible, tolerant and open-minded attitude are essential for the successful completion of this journey.
