The Behavioral & Social Sciences (BSS) building is an 84,000 square foot (52,900 ASF) replacement building that is the new home to ten departments, including: the Center for Indian Community Development, Native American Studies, Languages and Cultures, Social Work, Philosophy, and Religious Studies. The building features lecture rooms, research space, facility and graduate offices, gallery space, academic computing labs, and a psychology clinic. Designed by the Portland architectural firm Yost Grube Hall, construction on the building began in May of 2004 and was ready for use the beginning of the Fall 2007 semester. Standing five stories high, the Behavioral & Social Sciences building is not just the tallest building on campus, it is also the "Greenest". The BSS meets the LEED Gold rating, and is currently the most environmentally friendly and sustainable building in the California State University system.
