ARCATA — (Dec. 8) Humboldt State University strength and conditioning coach Drew Petersen has been honored by the National Strength and Conditioning Association with induction into the organization’s Coach Practitioner Distinction Program.
According to an NSCS press release, Petersen has been honored along with three other collegiate strength coaches nationwide for "hard work and dedication to the profession of strength training and athletic conditioning. Petersen has been directing the HSU program since 1991.
Petersen is responsible for the design and implementation of the year round strength and conditioning program for all HSU sports. He has coached 27 strength and conditioning All-Americans and mentored six assistants who went on to earn positions as NCAA Division I strength and conditioning coaches.
The NSCA Coach Practitioner Program honors seasoned practitioners and educators responsible for the physical enhancement of individual athletes and athletic teams. The program distinguishes the achievements and competencies of strength and conditioning specialists via a formalized assessment of their experience as well as their interest in, and contribution to, the strength and conditioning profession. To date, 36 coaches from across the country have been recognized.

"These coaches are training and motivating some of the world’s best athletes, and the NSCA is proud to recognize their achievements and highlight their daily efforts."
