FALLACY DEFINITIONS
GROUP 6: REFUTATION
BASED FALLACIES
TEST #5
A CORRECT
ANSWER IS
Describe the fallacy of appeal
to emotion.
The fallacy of appeal to emotion involves trying
to gain agreement to a claim based only on arousing feelings
about the subject. The appeal can be to any emotion, such as
pity, spite, indignation, etc.
An example would be someone who wants to get legislation
passed and only tells stories designed to make listeners angry,
without addressing how significant the problem is, what the legislation
would involve, or how well the legislation would solve the problem.
