Business Services

Business Services works as a team to process distribution of payroll checks, process expense reimbursements, track and report financial information, coordinate all campus audits, process financial aid awards to students, receipt cash, collect on past due accounts, gift processing, issue purchase orders and contracts, manage the university risk, manage hazardous waste disposal, and manage the university budget/ budget planning. In addition, the team provides the processing function for the Advancement Foundation and the Sponsored Programs Foundation. Business Services includes Contracts, Procurement & Risk Management, Financial Services, and the University Budget Office.

Facilities Management

Facilities Management is responsible for construction projects, and operation of HSU facilities. Departments within Facilities Management include Plant Operations, Distribution Services, Property, Maintenance, Transportation and Construction Management.

Facilities Planning & Design

Facilities Planning & Design strives to support the University’s academic mission through the provision of outstanding planning and design services required to develop and maintain a safe, sustainable and high quality learning and working environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Human Resources/Payroll

Human Resources provides a variety of services to the campus community, primarily to non-faculty employees. The services involving staff and management employees include:

  • Coordination of recruitment and selection activities
  • Administration of compensation and classification programs
  • Development and coordination of training and development programs
  • Employer-employee relations assistance
  • Collective bargaining contract administration

Payroll processes documentation to pay faculty, staff, and students employed by the university. Employee pay warrants are issued by the State Controller's Office (SCO) in Sacramento and forwarded to the campus for processing and distribution. The department also maintains employee leave credit records.

University Center

The University Center is a comprehensive campus auxiliary and student union that provides Humboldt State University’s students and the greater campus community with services, conveniences and amenities requisite to the daily life of the campus. Opportunities to experience and grow in areas outside of the academic classroom are provided through organized recreational, cultural and educational offerings, as well as dining services, and other support operations and facilities.

University Police

The University Police Department (UPD) provides a safe and secure environment for the Humboldt State community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It oversees crime prevention, multi-hazard emergency planning, general security, and parking administration and enforcement. Its duties also include criminal and traffic investigation, law enforcement, escorts of valuables and equipment, reporting of safety hazards, assistance to motorists, and assistance to other law enforcement and social service agencies.
