Is Spring Preview mandatory for all prospective students?
No. Spring Preview is our annual Open House and a chance for students and guests to come explore Humboldt State University. This is a perfect opportunity to truly experience our remarkable University. If you can't wait for Spring Preview, or if you miss it, we have student-guided tours Monday through Saturday. Can I register as a walk-in at the event?
Yes. If you are unable to register for before the event you are welcome to register during the check-in hours at the on-site registration table. However, it is highly recommended to register online before the event.
Can I attend Preview even if I have not applied or been accepted to HSU?
Yes. Prospective students, family and guests are all welcome to attend Spring Preview. High school juniors and transfer students planning early are also highly encouraged to attend the Preview activities..
Can I attend just one day of Spring Preview activities?
Yes. Many students and guests can only attend one day, no problem. However, registration and payment is for both Friday and Saturday.. If you and your guests are only able to attend one day, there is no need to contact us separately and no discounted fee. Please just show up for the check-in hours on either day.
Is the fee different for one day versus two days?
No. The registration fee is $15 per person with a $45 maximum for one or both days. So your entire extended family can attend this event for only $45.
If I register and cannot attend, can I receive a refund?
No. Unfortunately no refunds are available.
Where can I park during the two days? Is it free?
Parking will be free for all Preview visitors throughout campus on both Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12, except at any parking meter marked 'City of Arcata'. Please park in the General/Staff parking lots or at any university parking meter.
What do I need to bring to Spring Preview?
Just yourself and your guests!!! You might also want to bring comfortable walking shoes and clothes, a jacket/umbrella and your camera!
What weather is expected during Spring Preview?
We will leave that answer up to mother nature. But please come back to this website as the event draws near and click on the "Arcata Weather" link. Hopefully, this will give you an idea of what to pack.
Can I stay on-campus during my visit?
No. Unfortunately our residence halls are completely full with current HSU students. There are many hotels/motels in our area for guests to stay. Please check out the "Lodging" link for a complete list of options.
Can I register for classes at Spring Preview?
No. Spring Preview is just an Open House for prospective students. Registration will occur at our Humboldt Orientation Program (HOP) in June, July and August. If you have been admitted to HSU for Fall 2008, you will be getting this information in the mail this March.
