Program check-in (Sat. July 19) will be held in Founders Hall main entrance (west side); the orientation meeting (Sun. July 20) will be held in the Gist Hall Theatre, located on Laurel Drive (north) side.
Other buildings being used for workshops include the Child Development Lab, Founders Hall and the West Gym complex.
Directions (by car) to H.S.U.
Traveling Northbound on US 101:
Once in Arcata, take the “14th Street/Humboldt State University” exit. As you exit the freeway, get into the left lane of the off-ramp. After the stop sign, continue straight through the stop sign heading north onto “LK Wood Blvd” which runs parallel to US 101. Turn right at the second street, which is “Plaza Ave.” Make an immediate right turn into the Library parking lot and continue to the southern side of the lot and then out of the parking lot turning left onto “Laurel Drive” and continue up the hill to the top. Subject to availability on Sat. July 19, you may find parking* behind Founders Hall or behind Van Matre Hall. If both of these lots are unavailable, or if you are arriving on Sun. July 20, park* in the large lot between Gist Hall and the Student & Business Services building.
Traveling Southbound on US 101:
Once in Arcata, take the “Sunset Ave./Humboldt State University” exit. Turn left at the stop sign; cross over the freeway. Turn right at the next stop sign, to head south on “LK Wood Blvd” which runs parallel to US 101. Turn left at the first street, “Plaza Ave.” Make an immediate right turn into the Library parking lot, continue to the southern side of the lot and then out of the parking lot turning left onto “Laurel Drive” and continue up the hill to the top. Subject to availability on Sat. July 19, you may find parking* behind Founders Hall or behind Van Matre Hall. If both of these lots are unavailable, or if you are arriving on Sun. July 20, park* in the large lot between Gist Hall and the Student & Business Services Building.

*During the week, an HSU parking permit is required, which can be purchased at the “PARC” building on Harpst Street or at the University Cashier (Student & Business Services, 2nd fl.) for $3 per day or $9 for a week-long permit. Permits are not required during the weekend.

Traveling Northbound on US 101:

Continue on LK Wood Blvd, and after the next stop sign, turn right at the next street, “Granite Avenue.” As you drive down Granite Avenue, there will be a very large parking lot on your right. The Jolly Giant Commons is the large, grey, 4-story building at the end of the parking lot. You’ll find the Summer Conference Center (SCC) Information Desk on the first floor (ground level) of this building.
Traveling Southbound on US 101:

You’ll go over the freeway to the next stop sign, where you will turn left onto “LK Wood Blvd.” Once on LK Wood Blvd, turn right at the next street, “Granite Avenue.” As you drive down Granite Avenue, there will be a very large parking lot on your right. The Jolly Giant Commons is the large, gray, 4-story building at the end of the parking lot. You’ll find the Summer Conference Center (SCC) Information Desk on the first floor (ground level) of this building.
The SCC staff can sell you a parking permit and advise you where to park in proximity to your room assignment.
