JELD-WEN Foundation Scholarship for students in Applied Technology

The JELD-WEN Foundation Scholarship for Applied Technology is available to support the education of undergraduates pursuing majors in Industrial Technology, especially students from specified communities and surrounding areas in California and Southern Oregon who need financial aid assistance.

Number and Amount of Scholarships:

One $2000 scholarship to help meet the cost of attendance at Humboldt State University, payable in equal allocations for the fall and spring terms.

Qualifications:

Eligible candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Enrolled, full-time students (minimum of 12 semester units) pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology during the fall and spring terms of the academic year of the award.
  • Eligible applicants include first-time freshmen; continuing students in academic good standing, transfer students and adult re-entry students. Preference will be given to entering freshmen.
  • Preference given to students who are high school graduates or community college transfers from communities and surrounding areas in California and Southern Oregon in which JELD-WEN facilities are located: Susanville, Rocklin, Stockton, and Vista/San Diego in California; and Klamath Falls, Oregon. Students from others locations will be considered if there is a lack of applicants from these areas.
  • Academic merit as determined by high school grade point average/aptitude test scores or college grade point average. Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 is required.
  • Demonstrated financial need according to federal eligibility determined from Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) indicating Humboldt State University. FAFSA (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/) must be completed by March 1 of each year (or the California State deadline) for consideration.

Restrictions:

  • There shall be a limit of two annual awards to any individual student.
  • Students with demonstration of extracurricular or school activities, achievement, initiative, leadership, work ethic, honors/awards, employment, volunteer activities, hobbies, or interests will be given preference.
  • The scholarship will not be awarded if no candidates meet criteria.

Application procedure:

Applicants should demonstrate their qualifications by submitting the following:

  • Completion of JELD-WEN Foundation Scholarship application form (or obtain a hard copy from the department).
  • One letter of recommendation from a teacher, work supervisor, or other non-related person qualified to recommend candidate on basis of his/her qualifications for scholarship.
