History of the Arcata's Wastewater Treatment

Arcata's unique, enviornmentally friendly wastewater treatment plant and Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary did not happen by accident. The land at the northern end of Humboldt Bay, which historically was wetlands, has undergone many changes over the last two centuries. The rise of local environmental consciousness, national regulations, and hard work all contributed to the development of the Arcata Wastewater Treatment Plant.
