The Chung-Watson Lecture Series on Business Ethics honors HSU Professor Frank Watson and Po Chung, one of professor Watson's most successful entrepreneurial students. Originally established by Mr. Chung in 1990 as the Watson Lecture Series in Business Ethics, the program was renamed by the University after Mr. Chung was officially recognized as an HSU Distinguished Alumni in 2005.
Between 1990 and 2009, the program sponsored sixteen lectures by renowned academics and business leaders that covered a wide range of ethical business issues. The program uses a symposia format whereby a variety of methods and technologies are used to achieve a higher degree of critical analysis and interaction between the speaker and audience. This includes the use of panel discussions, current case studies, and teleconferencing. Two elements characterize the design of each annual program. First, the issues and methodology are based on actual or practical situations. Second, to the extent possible, selected issues depict personal ethical and moral dilemmas in a business context, as opposed to general legal or systematic controversy.
