What is FORTUNE?

FORTUNE is an Excel spreadsheet template that was conceived and developed by Andrius Ilgunas with assitanc e from the students participating in the Student Managed Investment Fund at Humboldt State University, California that gathers stock data from various source s on the Internet automagically. Additionally, it performs various financial calculations and creates a report for evaluation of a specified stock.

Why FORTUNE?

Its purpose is to assist the students in making decisions on which publically traded stocks to invest in. Instead of purchasing software that might do a simi lar job, FORTUNE allows the students to not only see how the calculations are perfromed, but it also has the flexibility to create and analyze customized rep orts.

WARNING! Although SMIF is indeed using this spreadsheet to perform initial calculations to determine potential future stock prices, it is still very much in a *BETA* phase of testing. This means that there are probably still very many bugs in it and the format has not yet been finalized. Using it as a definitive resource for stock price calculations may proove to be feeble. In other words, use it at your own risk. You have been warned.
