History

In 1991 the Center for Applied Sociological Analysis and Education (CASAE) was founded by faculty members in the Department of Sociology. The purpose of the center was to serve the local research and education needs of communities surrounding Humboldt State University while providing mentored research experiences for MA and BA students in the department. Professors Jerry Krause and Sing Chew provided early leadership for the center. Later, Professor Judith Little directed the CASAE. The center is currently directed by Dr. Christina Martinek and is housed on the 5th floor of the Behavioral and Social Sciences building on campus.
