Center Activities Staff
All Outdoor Trip Leaders have strong backgrounds in the fields they teach. Each trip leader must have a minimum of First Aid and CPR certification. They also have skills, training and experience necessary for specific activities such as back-country medicine and rescue, river rescue, or aquatics and rock climbing certifications.
Center Activities Leisure Instructors are highly qualified, bringing extensive experience to the range of classes offered through this program. Those interested in offering a class through Center Activities are welcome to apply, as we are constantly striving to bring a wide variety of extracurricular activities to the local community.
The Center Activities Front Reception and Equipment Room Staff perform a tremendous range of clerical, logistical and equipment maintenance tasks. This staff provides essential support for the classes and programming that Center Activities offers.

Dave Nakamura, Director
Dave manages the operations and development of Center Activities Programs including Outdoor Adventures, Aquatic Adventures, the Leisure program, the Student Recreation Center and the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center. Dave has over 20 years experience in the Recreation Administration profession.
Bridget Hand, Assistant Manager
Bridget assists the Director in managing the operations and development of Center Activities Programs including Outdoor Adventures, Aquatic Adventures, the Leisure program, the Student Recreation Center and the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center. Additionally, she coordinates the collaborative departmental efforts within the Recreation & Wellness Center.
Ruth Sturtevant, Student Recreation Center (SRC) Supervisor
Ruth supervises the daily operations of both the SRC and the SRC West. She oversees planning and coordination of staff, administration and management of facility and equipment maintenance. She directs the personal training, group fitness, and SRC summer camp programs as well as maintains facility reservations for the SRC and the Recreation and Wellness Center.
Victoria Anweiler, Outdoor Program Coordinator
Victoria oversees the Outdoor Adventure programs for Center Activities. She develops programming, coordinates instructors, participant relations, and provides logistical support. She is also the Field Supervisor for the Youth Aquatic & Adventure Camps.
Bre Clark, Leisure and Recreation Program Coordinator
Bre oversees the Leisure Program for Center Activities. She works with instructors to create new programs as well as manages current leisure classes. She is also in charge of programming events in the RWC drop in lounge.
Wade Kriletich, Aquatics Program Coordinator
Wade oversees the daily operations of the equipment rental and waterfront aquatics programming such as kayaking, stand up paddling, canoeing and more at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center. Wade continues to share his passion through 10 years experience in the planning, development and implementation of aquatic programs.
Philip Wright, Humboldt bay Aquatic Center (HBAC) Supervisor
Philip oversees the daily operation of the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center, including facility rentals, event coordination, customer service, tech support, staff supervision, and facility maintenance.
Kara Graham, Marketing Coordinator
Kara serves as the promotional liaison between Center Activities and the surrounding community. She works to advance the goals of the organization by fostering lasting community partnerships and collaborating with staff to develop creative ways to get the word out about Center Activities programming.
Michael Wheeler, Graphic Designer
Michael designs all of the print and online graphics materials for Center Activities, the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center, the Student Recreation Center, the Arcata Community Pool, and the Recreation & Wellness Center.
