These classes are one-hour long, medium intensity aerobic workouts. Tuesday and Thursday mornings class is held in the deep end area and all other classes are held in the four-foot lap lanes.
This class is designed for expectant mothers and new mothers who would like to begin or continue an exercise routine.
Come and bring your child of exceptional needs to this fun and safe environment. Facilitated by our trained staff, Adaptive Aquatics will reinforce basic water safety in the presence of fun and exciting games.
Adults can utilize our lanes for lap swimming and exercise any hour the facility is open.
Short on time? Tabata is high intensity interval training consisting of 20 seconds of intense work followed by 10 seconds of rest. Exercises include both cardio and strength training. Tabata is shown to increase resting metabolic rate hours after a workout is complete. 25 minutes 2-4 times a week can help you get in shape and feel great!
Traditional Tae Kwon Do is an extremely effective Martial Art for self defense, self discipline, and self empowerment. Training will increase your cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, and flexibility while teaching you effective self defense techniques in realistic situations. Tae Kwon Do is world renowned for having the most dynamic and explosive kicking techniques of any Martial Art. Coupled with its focus on realistic self defense, and the use of grappling, joint-locking, choking and hand-striking techniques, traditional Tea Kwon Do will provide you with the skills and confidence to handle any situation. Whether you are new to the Martial Arts, or want to train for your black belt, our proven method of instruction will help you succeed. Students will have an opportunity to test for their first belt at the end of the semester and can attend some additional classes at Sun Yi’s Academy of Tae Kwon Do, here in Arcata.
Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin music and easy-to-follow dance moves. It is based on the principle that a workout should be FUN AND EASY TO DO. Zumba is not only great for the body, but it is also great for the mind. Zumba routines incorporate interval training, alternating fast and slow rhythms and resistance training. Fans say it’s so popular because it’s a fun way to work out.
A circuit program that incorporates equipment such as: sleds, prowlers and tires, to encourage a high intensity motivational workout. This class is geared to improve muscular and endurance fitness.
Learn about the ancient system of the chakras. The seven chakras each reflect and coordinate a different aspect of consciousness within us. Learning how to understand their imbalances can help us to grow physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. This class is for anyone interested in the chakra system- regardless of yoga previous experience. This class will primarily focus on physical movement but will also incorporate breath work, meditation, and aromatherapy.
Spinning is a non-impact, highly effective way to build cardiovascular strength and endurance. This class includes 40 minutes of high intensity cardio set to music with a 10 minute cool down and stretch period. Class size is limited and all levels are welcome. This class provides a wheelchair accessible station.
