Pianist Ahmad Jamal has long been recognized as a bona fide jazz giant, a living legend who has been inspiring audiences and fellow musicians since the 1950s. None other than Miles Davis wrote in his autobiography: “He knocked me out with his concept of space, his lightness of touch, his understatement.” Jamal’s classic album Live at the Pershing became a runaway hit in 1958, perfectly capturing his distinctive style and selling millions of records in the process. Now a half century into his career, “Ahmad Jamal is still confounding expectations right and left." (JazzTimes) Performing here with his long-time quartet, Jamal offers a rare opportunity to witness a jazz history-maker in action!
"No musician has had a more profound effect on the orchestral approach to small groups than Ahmad Jamal."—The Village Voice
