Uniting virtuosi from throughout the Eastern European diaspora, forged in the halls of the world's best conservatories, The New York Gypsy All-Stars cover the world rhythmically and harmonically. Andrew Bird & Special Guests

November 18, 2013 - 8:00pm
Van Duzer Theatre, Theater Arts Bldg.

Early jazz, country blues, gypsy music—all of these early influences still percolate within Andrew Bird's unique brand of indie-pop, but he has established a sound that is distinctly his own. Using a looping pedal, violin, and his unearthly talent for whistling, Bird creates densely layered sonic creations onstage. He has performed at such prestigious venues as New York's Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and the Coachella and Austin City Limits festivals.

Lyle Lovett & John Hiatt, An Acoustic Evening

November 20, 2013 - 8:00pm
Van Duzer Theatre, Theater Arts Bldg.

Two of America’s most respected musicians share the stage, playing separately and together, in this intimate “songwriter-in-the-round” performance. Grammy Award-winning Lyle Lovett is a ceaselessly creative individualist who writes thoroughly original, razor-sharp songs full of naked introspection and ironic whimsy. And of course, he’s also got the coolest hair this side of Kentucky. John Hiatt, who is revered as much for his compositions as he is for his popular CDs, has had his stellar songs covered by everyone from Bonnie Raitt to Jewel.
