September 6, 2013 - 8:00pm
Van Duzer Theatre, Theater Arts Bldg.

A testament to the power of perseverance, Brooklyn-based singer Charles Bradley is a commanding soul artist who gives new meaning to the phrase “the voice of experience.” Inspired by seeing James Brown live at the Apollo in the 1960s, Bradley spent the next 48 years stoking the flame of his unfulfilled music career. Van Duzer Theatre, Theater Arts Bldg.

Early jazz, country blues, gypsy music—all of these early influences still percolate within Andrew Bird's unique brand of indie-pop, but he has established a sound that is distinctly his own. Using a looping pedal, violin, and his unearthly talent for whistling, Bird creates densely layered sonic creations onstage. He has performed at such prestigious venues as New York's Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and the Coachella and Austin City Limits festivals.
