Beginning with the first competition in 1958, the Tchaikovsky’s choice of Van Cliburn was worldwide front page news. This year, Daniil Trifonov won the Grand Prix as well as the Gold Medal in the piano competition. Trifonov has been invited to perform by many major promoters worldwide during the 2011-12 season, including debuts with the London Symphony and Mariinsky Orchestra with Valery Gergiev, as well as the New York Philharmonic, the Israel Philharmonic with Zubin Mehta, and the Warsaw Philharmonic. Trifonov's recital engagements include the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. Join us for this exciting concert featuring one of classical music's fastest rising stars!
