HFAC Nursey Work Day - 2 « all eventsPosted by: Natural Resources Club

Event Summary: Join us in some nursery work at the Humboldt Fish Action Council native plant nursery! We will be working with botanist Suzanne Isaacs involving some salt marsh propagation and some transplanting. If you have your own gloves and boots, please bring them. We have gloves as well in case you do not have any. Please bring water, and rain gear just in case! Food and drinks are provided for volunteers!

The address is 1280 Hatchery Rd, Blue Lake. We will have the carpool meet at the library circle at 8:40am.

HFAC Fickle Hill Tree Planting « all eventsPosted by: Natural Resources Club

Event Summary: Join us for tree planting near Fickle Hill Creek for watershed restoration! Please bring water, gloves and boots if you have them. From Buttermilk lane around about, drive south towards Old Arcata Rd. for 0.5 mile. You will see the HFAC Work Day Sign. We will be meeting at the Green Barn off Old Arcata Road on the right. Continental breakfast and a delightful BBQ lunch is served for volunteers on this work day. Remember to look for the HFAC work day sign, the arrow will point you to the trailer! smile

Adopt A Highway Clean Up « all eventsPosted by: Natural Resources Club

Event Summary: Join us in cleaning our 1.5 mile section of the highway, just outside of HSU (sunset ave. exit to samoa ave. exit, northbound). There is a limit of 8 people that can help. Bagels and juice in the morning and lunch are included for volunteers! If you haven't watched the Cal-Trans Adopt A Highway safety video and are interested in helping, please contact Cate at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) before March 23. We will be meeting at the Natural Resoures building at 9am to get gear and to eat a light breakfast. Then we will head to the site on foot and work from Sunset ave. to Samoa ave.

Trinidad Coastal Land Trust Invasive Removal « all eventsPosted by: Natural Resources Club

Event Summary: Join us with the Trinidad Coastal Land Trust in removing ivy along our beautiful coast! The Trinidad Coastal Land Trust is a non-profit organization dedicating to protecting for the public benefit the natural beauty and character of Humboldt County from Little River to Big Lagoon. Come be a part of that smile
Access will be from 305 Osurg Lane off Scenic Drive: take the Westhaven exit off Highway 101, go under freeway, take right on Scenic and then first driveway on left. Parking is somewhat limited. There are several spots we will be working at to remove ivy. Then there is a larger general area where we will pull it off trees and try to remove it along the edges. We will pile it in stacks that can be turned over at a later date so nothing re-roots.
Tools and gloves are provided for those that do not have their own. Please wear study footwear and bring water. Our carpool will be meeting at the library circle at 9:00am. This is a wonderful opportunity to come relieve some invasive pressure in an undisturbed area.
Lunch also provided to volunteers!

Event Summary: Join us in some native plant nursery work, prepping for large restoration projects with Troy at Samara Restoration! Please bring gloves and water if you have them. along with sturdy footwear. Food and drinks provided for volunteers! Carpool leaves the library circle at 8:30 am.

The location is at 5260 Dow's Prairie Rd. in Mckinleyville.

Event Summary: What are the things we can do that will make a difference? This annual conference provides a forum to discuss current issues that are relevant to our region, our community, and our faculty, staff, and students. We seek to develop common ground to help build a sustainable society; one that balances economic, environmental and social needs. 34th Annual Lupine Bash « all eventsPosted by: Natural Resources Club

Event Summary: Join us with Friends of the Dunes in being a part of the annual tradition of removing invasive yellow bush lupines before they get the chance to produce more seed.
Meet at the Pacific Union School parking lot (3001 Janes Road Arcata) at 9:30am to carpool to the site. Morning refreshments are provided (including bagels donated by Los Bagels), so bring a mug for coffee or juice. Please bring gloves, sturdy footwear and water!

Event Summary: Join us with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and California Conservation Corps' Watersheds Stewards Project in a tree planting event this Saturday! There will also be a native species field tour provided on Salt and Panther Creeks. If you have your own boots and gloves please bring them. Muck boots, gloves and tools will be provided. Carpool will be meeting at the libary circle at 9:45am!

Event Summary: Join us in some nursery work at the Humboldt Fish Action Council native plant nursery! We will be working with botanist Suzanne Isaacs preparing a large number of flats to seed Festuca californica for a native grass restoration project at Lacks Creek on Bureau of Land Management land. If you have your own gloves and boots, please bring them. We have gloves as well in case you do not have any. Please bring water, and rain gear just in case! Food and drinks are provided for volunteers!
