pine trees, and he who understands it aright will rather
preserve its life than destroy it."

Mission
Statement
Humboldt State University has a
reputation for excellence in its natural resource and
science programs. With the redwood forests, the Trinity
Alps, the coastal dunes, Arcata Marsh and Wildlife
Sanctuary, and the Pacific Ocean, Arcata and its surrounding
areas provide students with opportunities to study many
different types of ecosystems. The university’s programs
and the vast biological diversity of Humboldt County attract
many students who share a passion for learning about the
natural world. The Student Naturalist Club’s purpose is to
provide an effective medium for students to learn about our
local environment through a collaborative educational
experience.
-
The Student Naturalist Club will
strive to create a mentoring environment in which all
participants are students and teachers.
-
The Student Naturalist Club will
seek out people with expertise in various fields to
share their knowledge. The club will strive to honor
the traditions and dedicated naturalists that make our
learning possible.
-
By combining the experience of
naturalists with many different interests, the Student
Naturalist Club will serve as the ultimate experiential
field guide to our local flora and fauna.
-
Most importantly, the
Student Naturalist Club is for people who share a love
of the natural world. The club is flexible to be
crafted by its members and our greatest teacher: Planet
Earth.
