Happy Summer and thanks to everyone who participated in Commencement – it was wonderful! The first green day for faculty in the fall is August 17. Ten month ASCs will return on August 10.

Faculty – Thanks for voting in the CNRS Election. All nominees were confirmed.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Institute for Student Success – it was a smashing success. Mark your calendars now for the August 17 institute.

HSU’s myHumboldt portal will go live on July 9 for students, faculty and staff. This single sign-on portal will allow access to Student Center, Faculty Center, gmail, Moodle and more.

Congratulations to the many CNRS students who won 2012 student awards honors at the ceremony last week. Check out all the winners on the Humboldt NOW page.

Check out the great article “A treasure in Trinidad” about CNRS’s hidden treasure, the Telonicher Marine Lab. The article, written by Pam Service, was published in the Time-Standard’s TriCity Weekly publication.

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Frederick (Rick) Zechman as Associate Dean effective July 1, 2012. Dr. Zechman is currently the interim associate dean at the College of Science and Mathematics at CSU Fresno and is a Professor of Biology. He earned his Ph.D. in Botany at Louisiana State University and his M.S. at the University of New Hampshire. His primary area of research is molecular phylogenetics, biogeography ecology and biodiversity of marine and freshwater organisms.
