The University does not support wireless printing. The main reason being the likelihood of confidential data being captured as a print job is sent to the printer. The other reasons include interference printers cause to wireless access points serving wireless Internet, wireless fire alarm stations, and other infrastructure devices.

There is a plan in place (for 2010) to allow users using the wireless network on campus to print to printers on the campus wired network (ITRP2). There is no plan in place (and likely will not be a plan, ever) to use the wireless network interface on a printer itself to associate to an access point... In fact this is explicitly not permitted (see main reasoning above).

Several high profile computer viruses have been cropping up at HSU. This is a reminder that student USB memory devices are likely vector for acquiring a computer virus. Please exercise caution when connecting data devices to your computer. Check to see that your operating system has recently been updated and that you have the latest virus software running on your office computer. If you have any questions send them to: cnrsitc [at] humboldt [dot] edu
