Contesting a Score
Updated: 07/08/04

Instructors who wish to contest a score must bring the portfolio(s) to a special adjudication session--usually Saturday morning following the portfolio reading (please check the Portfolio Timeline for specific dates and times). Score adjudication is available in the following circumstances ONLY:

  • The instructor believes a passing portfolio should have earned an E (when in doubt, adjudicate),
  • The instructor believes that a passing portfolio should fail,
  • The instructor believes that a failing portfolio should pass, or
  • The instructor wishes to confirm a score of 7.

Except in the rarest of circumstances, you will know your students' portfolio scores by the end of the Adjudication Session. If, however, that rare situation arises in which the score is not resolved:

  • Please do not postpone submitting your Batch Control Sheet. Should a complication prevent you from declaring a score, write "Score Pending" next to the portfolio number in question and submit the Batch Control Sheet to Tracy by the specified deadline. You can replace that notation with the final score as soon as the dispute has been resolved.
  • Please do not postpone submitting or posting your grades because a portfolio score or grade complication. If you cannot assign a grade by the official deadline, an RD will automatically appear on the student's transcript. Once you determine a grade, you can submit a grade change form.
