Diversity at HSU: Spring 2013 Art and Essay Contest
DEADLINE FOR ONLINE SUBMISSION: MARCH 7, 2013 5PM
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion invites all currently enrolled HSU students to submit diversity-focused art or writing pieces to our Spring 2013 Art and Essay Contest.
Entries should respond to one or more of the following questions:
How has your definition of “diversity” evolved through your learning experience at HSU, and how will this impact your future?
Tell us your story (in written or artistic form): How have your own background and life experiences impacted your experience at HSU? How has “diversity” at HSU been a part of your personal experience?
What do we mean by “diversity”?
For our purposes, the concept of diversity encompasses inclusion of and respect for the many dimensions of identity that make individuals unique, including – but not limited to – ability, age, culture, ethnicity, gender, language, religion, socio-economic status, and sexual orientation.
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion will select up to eight winning entries, which will be published in our 2013 Dissecting Diversity Report and disseminated campus-wide in Fall 2013. Each finalist will receive a $250 award for his/her work.
** Creators of winning entries may choose to publish their pieces using a pseudonym (fake name) in order to protect their identities.**
