Autonomous Technology refers to technology that handles dull or dangerous work by replicating human mobility, behavior or sensory ability. This technological field is expanding rapidly. It is estimated that 400 California businesses are participating in this industry, and that number is expected to double in the next two years.
On Wednesday, November 15 the OECD, together with the Northern California Small Business Development Lead Center will be hosting the Autonomous Technology Workshop. This event will examine what importance this industry holds for the North Coast economy and what opportunities it will present. The workshop will run from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the Wharfinger Building, 1 Marina Way in Eureka.
Joining us for the workshop will be Tim Johnson, founder and executive advisor of the California Autonomous Technology Initiative and executive director of the Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corporation. Mr. Johnson will be discussing the impact and possibilities of Autonomous Technology, and the benefits of statewide investment in this industry. Also joining us will be Ken Owens, co-founder of Cognisense Labs. Dr. Owens will discuss how Humboldt County can take advantage of the opportunities that Autonomous Technology presents.
More information about our presenters is available here. Also, please feel free to view or print the flyer for the event.
