Change in Area E Requirement for ERE Majors Effective Fall 2012

Effective with the Fall 2012 semester, students who complete an ERE major degree will not be required to take a separate Area E course.  The Area E requirement (Lifelong Understanding and Integration of Self) will be considered met by the your completion of the ERE major as a whole.  So, if you are an ERE major who will be graduating Fall 2012 or later, and you have not yet taken an Area E course, you do not need to do so.  Students graduating prior to Fall 2012 must still take an Area E course, as this change will not have taken effect yet.

Please keep in mind that in order to receive the Area E credit without completing an Area E course, you must elect to graduate under the catalog effective in your graduation year, and your graduation year must be 2012-13 or later.  If you elect to graduate under an earlier catalog (prior to 2012/13), you will still need to take a separate Area E course to satisfy the Area E requirement.  Please see page 37 of the 2011/12 HSU Catalog
