What is Summer Bridge (SB)?
Summer Bridge is a residential mandatory orientation program that provides entering freshmen with the tools necessary to navigate a successful transition to Humboldt State University.

As an SB participant, you will have the opportunity to connect with other incoming EOP freshmen & EOP staff, you will receive advising & mentoring, and the chance to familiarize yourself with HSU and the surrounding communities.

When does it start?
SB Check-in:  AUGUST 12
All EOP students are required to check-in for SB orientation @ the Jolly Giant Commons (JGC) Recreation Room, 1st Floor.  Please park in LOTS G1 & R2 off of LK Wood Blvd. & Granite Ave. A parking permit is required for the day and will be provided at check-in.

Early Housing Check-in:  AUGUST 11
Students planning on living on-campus may move-in ANYTIME between 8am – 6pm. Students will be in the room that was assigned and confirmed to them by Housing. Please check-in @ the Jolly Giant Commons (JGC) Recreation Room, 1st Floor.  Please park in LOTS G1 & R2 off of LK Wood Blvd. & Granite Ave. A parking permit is required for the day and will be provided at check-in. Who can attend and is it required?
Incoming freshmen students who are admitted to EOP for fall 2012. SB is a mandatory orientation program and EOP students are required to attend.

What does it cost to attend?
SB orientation is provided at NO COST. However, you may be charged for some lodging & meals, please read below:

ON-CAMPUS students Your lodging & meals will be covered by the program until Housing’s “move-in-day” on Aug. 14. From that date on, you are responsible for covering your own lodging & meals.

OFF-CAMPUS students All of your meals will be covered for the entire duration of the program.

What are your travel plans?
Whether you are arriving by bus or plane, our EOP staff will be there to pick you up and bring you to campus! Please let us know as soon as possible whether you will be driving up with family or friends, arriving by bus on AMTRAK or Greyhound, or by plane on United Airlines.
*Parents & family are not allowed to stay on campus in the Residence Halls and must find their own lodging accommodations.

ON-CAMPUS students: Students planning on living on-campus may move-in ANYTIME between 8am – 6pm for Early Housing Check-in on Saturday, AUGUST 11, 2012. How & when will you be arriving? We’d like to know.

OFF-CAMPUS students: We’d still like to know how & when you will be arriving but no need to check-in until Sunday, AUGUST 12

IMPORTANT NOTICES

  • Admitted EOP students can sign-up for Summer Bridge Orientation MARCH 1 – JUNE 3.

We are a first come first served program, please don’t risk the chance of being placed on a wait list.

In order to be eligible for Early Registration from June 11 – 29 for fall 2012 courses, you must complete the following:

  • Accept your admission to HSU before May 1 in your STUDENT CENTER.
  • Sign-up for Summer Bridge Orientation before June 3.

IMPORTANT DATES & DEADLINES

March 1: Sign up for Summer Bridge Orientation before June 3!

March 2: Registration deadline for the ELM/EPT placement tests. Test date: 3/17
*We prefer that you register for this test date in order for us to receive your scores in a timely manner.

March 5: On-Campus Housing Applications are available. Secure your spot! Apply at: www.humboldt.edu/housing/apply

Please note: Housing is assigned on a first-come/first-served basis and is determined by the date you complete the application. If you submitted a FAFSA, your housing deposit is $200 instead of $500.

April: Financial Aid Awards are dispersed...check your STUDENT CENTER (SC)!

April 20: Registration deadline for the ELM/EPT placement tests. Test date: 5/5

May 1: Intent to Enroll Deadline — Accept your admission to HSU in your SC! 

June 3: Deadline to sign-up for Summer Bridge Orientation

June 11: Early Registration for Fall 2012 Classes
Please note: In order to be eligible, you must accept your admission to HSU (by 5/1) & sign-up for Summer Bridge (by 6/3).

August 11-15: Summer Bridge Orientation (Early Housing Check-in on 8/11 & SB Check-in on 8/12)

August 20: 1st Day of School @ HSU
