The Fred Korematsu Story

Time: 4:00 pm

Description:

Widely considered one of the top 10 landmark cases of the 20th century, Korematsu vs. the United States, started when Fred Korematsu appealed his criminal conviction for refusing to leave the West Coast during World War II. He contended that such actions violated the U.S. Constitution. Karen Korematsu will share her father’s odyssey through the legal system up to that 1944 Supreme Court decision and its 1983 reversal and what the case still means for us today.
