Aprovecho Sustainable Living Skills
& Permaculture Design Certificate Program

Located in Cottage Grove, Oregon, the Aprovecho Research Center provides courses designed to teach students about how to create communities that are more sustainable and self-sufficient. Program is offered for summer and fall.Studies focus on sustainable living and permaculture design. Academic credit is available through Humboldt State University. LEARN MORE

Ecotourism Planning & Management Certificate Program

Learn about global and national trends in tourism, principles of ecology-based tourism, the role of ecotourism in community development, sustainable architectural and site designs and much more. Composed of three online courses equivalent to an optional 10 units of academic credit, this program may be completed in only one year. LEARN MORE

Certificate in Exercise Nutrition

This program is for students and working professionals who wish to expand their knowledge of the complex relationship between nutrition and exercise. To earn this certificate, students must complete four 3-unit classes, for a total of 12 units. This series of online courses introduces prospective and current faculty to the roles and responsibilities of teaching in higher education and specifically addresses teaching, learning and technology issues in the college classroom. Certificate of Study in Wildland Fire Management

This curriculum is designed for those wishing to enhance or upgrade knowledge and skills in fire ecology, management of wildland fuels, prescribed fire and fire behavior. Students may supplement previously taken college courses to help qualify for employment with various agencies and companies that manage wildlands. Basic Wildland Firefighter Training

Are you looking for a summer job or a career with a natural resource agency? Will your career include prescribed burning for habitat and conservation management? Do you want to improve your wildland fire knowledge and obtain national certification? This training is part of the wildland and prescribed fire qualifications system used by all federal agencies (such as the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land management, National Park Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs or U.S. Fish and Wildlife) and many state and private wildland and prescribed fire management agencies.
