My photography is a journey into the exploration of light and the act, and art, of Seeing. My photographs are a way to share what I have learned on my journey.
It is a joy to walk in the landscape, looking not at the objects around me – the trees and creeks – but instead at the light as it falls through centuries of redwood growth, or reflects off ancient rocks and moving water. Early in my photographic journey I realized that I do not see “things”, but instead I am observing the forms light creates, seemingly independent of the landscape it is caressing.
This small realization is what set me on my journey and changed the way and the why I photograph. My desire to share what I have learned is not only an altruistic impulse, but the realization that the more I share, the more I will receive…which is the true blessing of teaching.
