Description:
When we look at what makes University students successful, we have learned over the years that there is almost nothing that is more important than being able to write effectively. Past students who have taken this FIG, sometimes reluctantly, have reported that it made a real difference. This FIG is specifically tailored for students who must take English 40 (Writing Confidence/Intensive Learning) their first semester at HSU. English 40 is required for all majors who have an English code of 10 based upon their English Placement Test (EPT) score of 138 or below. It includes instruction in small groups and individualized lab sessions. In addition to English 40, students are enrolled in Communication 100, (which counts toward the completion of the General Education, Area A) and a special 1-unit Seminar designed to support work in both the Communication 100 and the English 40 classes.
This FIG includes "Fundamentals of Speech Communication" (3 units), "Writing Confidence/Intensive Learning" (3 units), and the FIG Seminar (1 unit).
