HOWL - Humboldt Outdoor Wilderness Leadership (1 unit)

August 15-19

Major(s):

All majors

Description:

Get a jump start and earn a unit of credit before classes start. The goals of this FIG are to help freshmen with the transition to college, learn basic wilderness and leadership skills, discover the beauty of the area and create lasting connections with others. This is a unique opportunity for learning about yourself and developing your leadership and teamwork skills. This FIG will include a 5-day wilderness experience, a reflection paper, short readings during the trip and a reunion with other students who participate in the wilderness trip during the fall semester. The wilderness trip will take place August 15-19 and will conclude in time for ‘HOWLers’ to participate in the August Humboldt Orientation Program (HOP). This FIG may be combined with another FIG of your choosing. For more information see the HOWL program under Outdoor Adventures Center Activities.

In addition to signing up for HOWL as a one-unit FIG, you must also sign up through Outdoor Adventures. For more information see the HOWL program under Outdoor Adventures Center Activities.

This FIG consists of one class, the FIG Seminar (1 unit).
